Work in your workbook with the agent

What the agent can do in Excel, how to approve or undo its changes, prebuilt agents, attachments, and how it uses AI credits.

The agent works inside your open workbook. You ask in plain words, it reads the sheets and your imported documents, and it proposes or makes the changes. Open it with Agent in the AI group of the Blast Audit tab.

What you can ask

TaskExample
Analyse a sheet"Which suppliers account for 80 % of purchases on this sheet?"
Clean data"Remove blank rows, trim spaces in column B and convert column D to dates."
Build a summary"Create a pivot table of sales by region and month on a new sheet."
Format"Highlight in red every variance above 5 %."
Check formulas"Find #REF! and #DIV/0! errors in the workbook and explain where they come from."
Use your documents"Find the invoice date for each row of this sample and cite the page."
Vouch a sample"Match the rows of this table against the imported invoices."

The agent can also trace a formula, write values with a snip linked to the source document, create charts and tables, sort, add sheets, and search the web when you approve it.

Each step reads up to 2,000 cells and writes up to 500 cells. For a large sheet, the agent works in several steps.

Control what it changes

The agent always reads freely. You decide how it writes:

  • Ask before changes: each change waits for your click.
  • Apply changes automatically: changes are applied as the agent goes.

By default the agent writes only into empty cells. It asks before overwriting cells that already hold something.

Turn on Plan first to approve a plan before the agent acts. Planning does not use AI credits.

Undo

Each turn that changed the workbook shows an Undo button. Some changes cannot be undone automatically, and the turn says so:

  • formatting changed by a script, and notes;
  • charts, tables, pivot tables and shapes added by a script;
  • rows or sheets inserted or deleted by a script;
  • anything done before the add-in reloaded.

Save a copy of the workbook before asking for large restructuring.

Prebuilt and custom agents

The agent library has ready-made agents for common audit tasks (Prebuilt). Type / in the chat to run one. Click New agent to write your own instructions. Agents you publish are shared with your organization.

Attachments and voice

You can attach images (PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, under 5 MB), for example a screenshot of a client schedule. To give the agent a PDF or another document, import it on the Documents page first. You can also dictate your request with the microphone button.

AI credits

Agent requests use AI credits, shared by your organization. When the credits run out, the agent says "Your organization is out of AI credits, so this request did not run." An administrator can add credits. If your administrator has turned off AI features for the organization, the agent is not available.

What happens to your conversations

To answer, the agent sends our servers what the request needs: your message, the cells it reads and the text of the documents it uses. That content is held only in short-lived processing contexts, for at most 24 hours after upload, as the Privacy Policy says. The work itself, with its snips, stays in your workbook.

Where your data is stored explains where that content goes and how long it is kept.
