Short answer: if your audit work in Excel is mostly evidence (reading PDFs, putting figures into workpapers, matching them to supporting documents, keeping a link to the source), the add-ins built for that job are DataSnipper, Blast Audit and Moby Analytics. They differ most on price: DataSnipper sells three tiers on quote, Blast Audit lists one plan at €45 per user per month, Moby lists €348 per user per year. If your work is ledger analytics (sampling, Benford, duplicates), look at TeamMate Analytics or ActiveData for Excel instead; if it is reviewing formula models, look at Operis OAK.

The first three work on documents. The last three work on data and formulas. Most teams need one tool from the first group and, sometimes, one from the second.
How we compared
- Scope. Only tools that run inside Excel as an add-in. Audit management platforms that replace Excel are out of scope; our guide to audit management software versus Excel covers that decision.
- Criteria. What the add-in does inside the workbook, which AI features exist and on which plan, whether the price is public, and how an extracted figure stays linked to its evidence.
- Sources. The vendor's own pages first. Where a vendor page could not be read, we used a named third-party page and say so in the table.
- Date. All facts were checked in September 2026. Plans and prices change; the source links let you check the current version.
- What we did not do. We did not run benchmarks, so there are no accuracy or speed scores here. Test any shortlisted tool on your own files during a trial.
- Disclosure. Blast Audit publishes this article and sells one of the products listed.
Document evidence add-ins
Blast Audit (our product)
Blast Audit is an Excel add-in for auditors who work from PDFs and scans. It runs OCR on scanned and digital documents inside the task pane, then lets you draw a snip around a value, a set of values to sum, or a whole table, and drop it into a cell that stays linked to the page it came from. Document matching compares workpaper rows with a batch of documents and colour-codes each result as found, partial or missing.
For recurring layouts, form extraction templates capture the same fields from every invoice or statement. For varied documents, AI extraction builds the schema from a plain-language description and writes values back with citations. - Price: €45 per user per month, or €37.50 billed annually. One plan, all features, no seat minimum, 14-day free trial.
- Included usage: about 10,000 OCR pages and €20 of AI credits per user per month, pooled across the organization.
- Migration: opens DataSnipper workbooks and converts documents and snips, with a report of what converted and what needs review.
- Security: SOC 2 Type 2 report completed, ISO 27001:2022 certificate issued.
DataSnipper
DataSnipper says it is used by "all Big Four audit firms" (press release, September 2026). Its pricing page lists three plans, and none shows a price: Start and Accelerate say "Book Demo", Elevate says "Contact sales".
- Start lists DataSnipper for Excel, Snips, Document Matching, Form Extraction, Version Comparison and SSO.
- Accelerate adds Excel Agents, Disclosure Agents, DocuMine, AI Extractions and the Agent Builder with prebuilt agents.
- Elevate adds Alwin by DataSnipper, Planning Mode, Audit Workbench, Review Workflow, Client Spaces and UpLink.
The practical point for a buyer: matching and form extraction sit in the entry plan, while AI extraction and agents need Accelerate or above. Moby Analytics
Moby describes itself as "AI for financial auditors, inside Excel". According to its website, it fills audit workpapers "with every figure linked to its source", runs general ledger analysis and checks financial statements, returning "a ticked document, with discrepancies listed for your review".
Its Essential plan is listed at €348 per user per year excluding tax, with 18,000 to 36,000 pages a year and AI agents included. The Enterprise plan is priced on request, from 50 licences, and adds SAML SSO. The site offers a demo; we did not find a free trial mentioned.
Data and formula add-ins
TeamMate Analytics
TeamMate Analytics, from Wolters Kluwer, brings audit analytics into Excel. Accounting Today reported that gap and duplicate detection, Benford's testing, monetary unit sampling and stratification "can be accessed from directly within Microsoft Excel". That article dates from 2020; the Wolters Kluwer product page refused automated access when we checked, so confirm the current feature list with the vendor. Reviewers on Capterra note that you have to request a quote.
Choose it for analytics on large populations, not for reading supporting documents.
ActiveData for Excel
ActiveData adds data analysis tools to Excel and markets itself for computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATs). The vendor site says you can "join, merge, match, query, summarize, categorize, locate duplicate and missing items" in your data. The price list shows perpetual licences at $299 (Professional) and $149 (Business). We found no AI features mentioned.
Operis OAK
OAK is built for reviewing spreadsheet models rather than audit evidence. The Operis site lists a formula explorer, spreadsheet mapping and a feature to "compare spreadsheet versions and create an audit trail". Which one fits your team
- You test transactions against invoices, contracts and bank statements. Shortlist from the first group. Compare DataSnipper's quote for the plan you need against the listed prices of Blast Audit and Moby, and run the same sample of your own documents through each trial or demo.
- You analyse whole ledgers. TeamMate Analytics or ActiveData for Excel.
- You review financial models built by clients or colleagues. Operis OAK.
- You want a general AI assistant in Excel (Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT). Those are not audit add-ins, but they can sit alongside one. We compare them in our AI tools for audit and finance in Excel guide.
Questions to ask in every demo
- Does every extracted figure keep a link to the exact page and area of the source, and can a reviewer open it in one click?
- Does OCR work on your scans, not only on native PDFs?
- Which plan holds the features you saw in the demo, and what does that plan cost?
- Is there a seat minimum?
- Can you open your existing workpapers, including files built with another add-in?
